Young Automotive advertises that they work on Volkswagens. When I visited Young Automotive, the person behind the desk didn't greet me. In a friendly manner I said "Hi, how are you?". He acted a bit insulted that I had asked, shrugged his shoulders and said "okay" with a dismissive tone. I began explaining my car problem and that the vehicle was a 1970 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia. He suddenly started shaking his head and in a loud, irritated tone said "We don't work on those." I said "you advertise that you work on Volkswagens". He continued shaking his head in an irritated manner and said "we can't get parts for those". I asked if he would recommend anyone who worked on old Volkswagens but he continued his angry tone and refused to make any recommendations. The reason for my one star review is I've never entered any business of any type and received such an irritated, angry reception. It's especially strange to have this experience in a small town with a local small business where reputation is very important. I understand that people can have a bad day and maybe that was the case. I also understand that an auto service company may not provide service for all types of cars. However, I didn't understand why I was berated for attempting to bring business to this automotive company. Likewise, if a company doesn't service a particular type of vehicle, I think, especially in a small town, it's good for the community to recommend another company with that speciality. Perhaps my experience was an anomally, but I do not plan to visit again and I cannot recommend Young Automotive.

Mr Cragg. I am so sorry you were treated this way. I must take responsibility as I was likely the person who you had contact with. I know better than to be dismissive to customer requests whether we can do the service or not. This is not the culture I want in our business. While it's true we service import cars, we don't service select vehicles we cannot expertly repair. Air cooled Volkswagens, Porsches, and most vehicles that are 30 years old or more are on the list. We try to offer referrals whenever possible, but we aren't always informed of our local automotive colleague's offerings.
